At Alawa each collection is like a child. And in it many personal experiences converge that somehow emerge in the traits and personality of each model. With the “Gracia” collection, something happened that we could never have imagined, and that is that the final mark was given to it after its birth, and this made it “a place”.
The farm "La Carreña" is a beautiful corner of peace located north of Jerez de la Frontera, in the payment of Marcharnudo bordering the shortened lands of Tabajete and Romanito. And it was the place where we took the photos of our latest collection called "Grace". We never thought that this place would finish capturing its most intimate and essential note in each garment.
As if it were that "touch of grace" that an inanimate body needs to come to life, this peaceful terroir of southern Spain was the one who breathed on our designs (molded between Madrid, Barcelona and Portugal), the breath that gave them lifetime.
We arrived at "La Carreña" attracted by an environment that harmonized in all its notes with the Alawa collection, which we had been developing for months. But from the first moment we discovered that it was not the striking beauty of the natural environment that led us there and what makes this place such a special place. Neither does its historic estate, which hidden behind the foliage as if it were a mantilla, reveals its mystical beauty to those who enter it. The charm and the best kept secret of this place is its people.
The Sánchez Cabrera family, to whom it belongs and who has run the farm for more than forty years, is not only made up of Luis Javier and Rosario with their four children, but also the people who work in “La Carreña”. And that from the first moment they honor the reputation of hospitality and generous welcome that this land has.
A large open courtyard on the main façade of this noble building, which was a press in the XNUMXth century, gives tangible shape to the welcoming spirit with which one feels embraced upon arrival. The curb of the well in the middle of the courtyard, the imposing wrought iron bars on the balconies and windows, or the arched portico at the entrance, make you travel back in time with each step you take when entering, but without losing anything of the artistic avant-garde with which these elements were born
The hallway, lined with colorful tiles, frames a palatial staircase that takes us to the main floor and where it has been known to combine a careful aesthetic to detail and the most modern comfort. The house has seven double rooms and one triple, equipped with their own bathroom and all the amenities that have earned it the distinctive “Superior Rural House”. The spacious common areas have everything you need to feel at home. The main dining room, the kitchen, the living rooms, everything is equipped with the details and the guests in mind.
In perfect harmony with the garden is the swimming pool. Surrounded by orange trees, olive trees and a large bougainvillea that literally connects it with the house and transforms this space into a secret treasure like a hidden garden. The Jerez countryside surrounds all the views, but above all it penetrates the soul like a soft perfume that inevitably makes time stop.
We went looking for a suitable frame to present our swimsuits and the frame ended up being part of the painting. And not only because of the photos, but because of the mark that this site leaves on the soul. "La Carreña" could be defined as a rural estate dedicated to vacation rentals and holding all kinds of events. But what this site offers is much more than this because here nothing is set scenery. From the calm and silent breeze that accompanies the first rays of dawn, to the oil that comes out of its own olive trees on the morning toasts. Everything tastes of authenticity and tradition.
Like the olive trees, the vines, and the smell of orange blossom, the horses are part of the genetics of “La Carreña”. The stables, which are located in the same central building, have a magnificent stud farm of pure Spanish breed. Since for more than forty years the Sánchez Navajas family has been present in the most important exhibitions of traditional hitch carriages, seeking to publicize this type of riding so deeply rooted in the life and traditions of Jerez de la Frontera.
For this, the farm has about twenty purebred horses, which are worked daily to be able to arrive in optimal conditions at the competitions and exhibitions. There are numerous awards that the family has received thanks to their commitment, passion and dedication to this precious animal.
The two large halls of the estate, which like the patio can host celebrations and events for up to six hundred people, house one of the best kept jewels of "La Carreña": the guadarnés and one of the most private collections of towed cars. important of Andalusia. The exhibition and museum has more than twenty horse carriages built in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. Perfectly restored and preserved, each carriage seems to tell a different story, some speak of love stories, others of furtive encounters, others of afternoons strolling through the meadow or at the fair in the city, but in all a life is clearly heard. thrilling. The calm and serene natural beauty of the exterior is reproduced inside the large rooms in the elegance of each of its carriages.

Finca "La Carreña" is available to be rented as a rural house with accommodation for 18 people and as a farm for holding events. For this, the old rooms of the house were restored allowing the construction of two independent rooms for celebrations. The old winery, which still maintains the original stone arches, has a maximum capacity of 250 people and the winery, after its restoration, has a capacity of up to 600 guests.
All kinds of events such as weddings, congresses, meetings, auctions are held there. As well as location for filming, campaigns and photographic reports.
