The Textile Industry and its Environmental Responsibilities – Eco-friendly Fabrics used by Alawa!

At ALAWA we inspire beauty, we seek true beauty, and we surround ourselves with beauty… our philosophy has a very personal touch. If one thing has become clear, it’s that we live in a world that is moving very fast and quite often confused. Thus, it’s difficult to be dazzled by what surrounds us, discover what is really important, make unique moments a magical ritual, and look for the nuances that may change everything… those nuances are exactly the protagonists of today! Ready? Steady? ALAWA!

As we have already stated on other occasions, environmental engagement is already a must for both medium and large companies.

The most avant-garde customer seeks durability, quality, and ethical values, something that has been lost over the years in an increasingly crowded industry. But the outlook is favourable and every day new different brands adopt good practices, choosing the path of sustainability and environmentalism, caring about their footprint in the world.

In our case, it’s pure conviction. We firmly believe in the responsibility of the textile industry with the environment and with all of creation. That’s why we look for fabrics with a Sustainability Certification Mark and eco-friendly.

Thus, one of our biggest suppliers is an Italian textile called Carvico. And they provide us with eco-sustainable fabrics of the highest quality.

Carvico works on a serious commitment, transparent and tangible, offering fabrics made up of ECONYL® thread, a 100 % nylon thread regenerated from pre and post-consumer waste materials, such as fishing nets, carpet fluff, rigid tulle, etc. Materials that have now reached the end of their life cycle, and instead of being dumped in landfills, are recovered and regenerated through a complex physical-chemical decomposition process.

On their website we can find news like this: every year, 8 million tons of waste are dumped into the sea, and 640 thousand tons of fishing nets are abandoned in the oceans (according to FAO and UNEP sources).

Alarming figures tell us that the sea could contain more garbage than fish in 2050 if the situation remains unchanged. That’s the reason why we absolutely must change our approach, coexist with nature the best way possible and think about the crucial importance of the limited resources of our planet. We need a new awareness and a change of mentality!

In addition, our largest fabric supplier, Carvico, supports and collaborates with fishing communities in order to implement preventive actions against the pollution caused by unused fishing nets and find new solutions for sustainable disposal, both from an environmental and economic point of view. Carvico also conducts educational programs to promote the importance of responsible eco-choice.

At Alawa we can only be satisfied to share this information with our customers. The voice of nature seems essential to us… and we are always going to listen to it from love, commitment, and a range of shared values for a better future.

Our environmental policy wants to be always up to date and contribute totally to the improvement of this “common house” that we call planet Earth. Because at ALAWA we don’t just inspire fashion, bikinis, or the most genuine summer outfits. At ALAWA we breathe everything that is true and means dedication, commitment, and sensitivity. Ready? Steady? ALAWA!
